Termination of Life

Introduction:

Termination of life is forthcoming but no one among us knows when he / she would die. Termination of a life is commonly known as Death which is the inescapable reality that hovers over upon the head on each one of us.  Worldly Death is not the absolute end. But death is only an interjection which separates from the life of this material world from that of celestial world which comes after the termination of our worldly life. It is just the discontinuation of unity between the body and soul. It is a change from one state to another and a transition from this present life to that of the hereafter.

"Every person tastes death, then you receive your recompense on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever misses Hell, barely, and makes it to Paradise, has attained a great triumph. The life of this world is no more than an illusion" {The Qur’an – Surah Ale Imraan (Chapter: The Amramites) 03:185}.

"Certainly, they see it as distant, but We (Almighty Alloh) see it as near" {The Qur’an – Surah Ale Ma'arij (Chapter: The Heights) 70: 06 - 07}.

The Last Messenger Prophet Muhammad (SAW) referred to death as "the destroyer of desires" [Sunan At-Trimidhi, Ibn Majah & Nisei and authenticated by Sheikh al-Albanee in Al-Mishquat: 1/1607].

Angel of Death:

There is clear cut knowledge from The-Qur’an that an angel of death nears a human being to take its soul from the worldly body. The Angel of Death who along with his helpers is responsible for parting the soul of the human from the body. The actual process of separating the soul from the body depends on the person's history or record of good or bad deeds. If the human was a bad person in life, the soul is ripped out very painfully. But if the human was a righteous person, then the soul is separated like a 'drop of water dripping from glass'.

Thou Muhammad (SAW): "Say: "You (people) will be put to death by the angel in whose charge you are placed, then to your Lord you will be returned" {The Qur’an – Surah As Sajdah (Chapter: The Prostration) 32:11}.

The Angel of Death comes to the [dying] believer, sits at his head and says, 'Oh you good soul, come out and receive your Lord's forgiveness and pleasure'. Then the soul flows out effortlessly just as water flows from the mouth of a waterskin.

Companion Abu Huraira (RTA) narrated that The Last Messenger Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "When the soul of a believer comes out [of its body], two angels receive it and rise with it towards the heavens, whereupon the inhabitants of the heavens say, "A good soul has come from the earth. (Almighty) Alloh has blessed you and the body which you used to occupy" [Muslim].

Worldly Life a Test:

This life, which we are living, is the testing ground for which there shall be only two consequences, Paradise or Hellfire. Unfortunately more than often we disregard death, as we are so attached to this world and the love of which has been established in our hearts.

"You will certainly be tested, through your money and your lives, and you will hear from those who received the scripture, and from the idol worshipers, a lot of insult. If you steadfastly persevere and lead a righteous life, this will prove the strength of your faith".

"The One who created death and life for the purpose of distinguishing those among you who would do better - He is the Almighty, the Forgiving" {The Qur’an – Surah Al-Mulk (Chapter: The Kingship) 67:2}.

"This World in comparison with the world to come is just like one of you putting his finger in the sea. Let him consider what it returns with" [Sahih Muslim Vol.4 Page: l486, Hadith No. 6843].

Prepare for Actual Life:

The life in the world is temporary and the life after the termination of life is permanent. So, among the people who are using their given senses to ponder upon Almighty Alloh and His creations, would work seriously for the hereafter. Working for the hereafter starts with the primer: There is no deity but (Almighty) Alloh and Muhammad is the (last) Messenger Prophet of (Almighty) Alloh. Our Creator Lord Almighty Alloh (The-God) is the Most Gracious; we believe in Him, and we trust in Him. We must be in continual appreciation that Almighty Alloh is the One who initiated us, and granted us the hearing, the eyes, and the brains. Almighty Alloh is the One, who placed us on this earth, and before Him we will be summoned then who not we perform in this world with an intention to please Him. Let us prepare for the actual life by pleasing Almighty Alloh and helping others who need us.

"This worldly life is no more than vanity and play, while the abode of the Hereafter is the real life, if they only knew" {The Qur’an – Surah Al Ankaboot (Chapter: The Spider) 29:64}.

Conclusion:

"Oh you who believe, you shall observe (Almighty) Alloh as He should be observed, and do not die except as Muslims" {The Qur’an – Surah Ale Imraan (Chapter: The Amramites) 03:185}.
